With the hustle and bustle of life from work to family to household duties, it can be hard to get some time to ourselves. We get caught up in day to day activities sometimes we get burnt out.
Well it’s time to stop neglecting yourself!
You can’t be superwoman if you’re completely run down. Show yourself some love!
You might be thinking, “I don’t have ANY down time!”
Well, that may be true right now, but in order to care for yourself properly, you’re going to have to find time.
You’re a priority, and should be at the top of your list. So make the time, and you’ll feel the stress melt away. Make taking care of yourself a priority and give love to yourself. Here are some ways you can practice self love.
1. Buy yourself a fresh bouquet of flowers every week.
Sure, flowers may be something very small and simple, but the effect it can have on your mood is amazing. I definitely relax easier and more comfortably in a home with a nice ambience. Keep a beautiful vase on your coffee table or kitchen table.
2. Have a spa night at home.
Pamper yourself at home, or if you’ve got extra cash then go to an actual spa.
Try out a new mask, paint your nails, deep condition your hair, try some new makeup techniques. Do whatever makes you feel good.
3. Cook a healthy meal for yourself.
I know it’s easier to stop and grab a pizza on the way home, but give your body something it needs. A nourishing meal! Prep your meals on the weekend so you’ll be prepared all week and won’t be caught having to resort to something unhealthy because you don’t have anything else.
You owe it to yourself to feed your body the nutrients it need and thrives on.
4. Write down all the things you love about yourself.
Make a list and keep it tucked away to look at when you’re feeling down.

“I am very outgoing and friendly, everyone has a good time when they’re with me.”
You could try a journal that’s a bit guided, or a regular ole’ notebook.
It’s so easy to say what we like about other people, but when it comes to us, we don’t want to seem arrogant.
Don’t see it as arrogance, see it as confidence. You are awesome, and there is NOTHING wrong with acknowledging that!
5. Say affirmations to yourself every day.
Remind yourself every day just how awesome you are. Other people see it. Other people know it. So you need to know it as well.
Write them down, or print them out, hang them up in your bathroom, on your fridge. Wherever you’ll see them and say them every single day.

6. Do an exercise you love.
I really love lifting weights, so yeah I do that very often. Do your favorite exercise a few times a week at least. If you’re not much of an exerciser and not sure what that is, then it’s time to experiment!
Try anything you think you might like, and maybe even things you’re not sure you’d like. You can’t say for sure until you try, right?
7. Eliminate something that is causing you stress.
Whether that be a toxic person in your life or something as simple as a cluttered kitchen counter. Well don’t get rid of the actual counter, but you know what I mean! Get a basket to store mail in if you just throw it down when and you come in. An uncluttered home is a happier home!
8. Shift your focus.
Focus on something you want to start doing or spend more time on. A new hobby or something that you’ve been curious about but never tried.
I’ve always been interested in yoga, but never really tried it other than a few poses here and there. But for one whole month I’ve decided to do yoga everyday and see how I feel. I’ll be writing a blog post about it as well!
So make time for something you think you might like, if you end up hating it, just scratch it off your list and move onto something else.
9. Buy yourself something.
Have you been eyeing that pair of Nike’s, but just can’t bring yourself to purchase them? Save up and get them for yourself. Put a little bit of cash away each time you get paid. Or skip something you buy regularly, like that Starbucks latte, and stash the money you saved. You can make a bangin’ latte at home!
Buy the dang shoes. You deserve it.
10. Go for a walk.
Go to a park with some nature trails. Walk and observe your surroundings. Get artsy fartsy and take some cool pictures with your phone for your Instagram. Enjoy and live in the moment!

11. Don’t sweat the small stuff
Do you ever get so bothered by something minor? Think about it. Like how someone loads the dishwasher the wrong way. Hey… don’t worry about it.I know, easier said than done. That bothers me too. But it’s not that big of a deal!
Don’t let stuff that doesn’t really matter get you all worked up.
12. Get dressed up.
Put on a cute outfit and do your makeup and hair. Even if you don’t have anywhere to go. It’ll make you feel good, and give you a reason to take some cute pictures. Why not?
13. Learn to say no.
If someone invited you out with group of people one night, and you’re just not feeling it, you can say no! If your boss asks you to take on yet another project, tell him that you’ve got a lot on your plate right now and you want to focus on your current projects, so they’ll be the best they can be. Don’t let your work suffer because you’re doing too much!
It’s okay to say no to things that aren’t going to benefit you or other people.
14. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
You’re human. You’re going to make mistakes. You wouldn’t belittle a waitress just because she forgot to grab you some napkins (please don’t be that person!), so why would you talk down to yourself for making a mistake? People are not perfect, and that includes you.
If you’ve made a mistake, just tell yourself “It’s okay, just try better next time.” And don’t resort to name calling, no one ever improved themselves by being called an ugly word.
15. Wrap yourself in a blanket cocoon and binge watch TV.
Yeah, being lazy once in awhile is totally okay. You’ve worked your booty off all week, why not have a do nothing day? So keep your comfy PJ’s on, throw on some fuzzy socks, and find a good show or movie and just relax.
16. Stop comparing yourself to others.
When we see others accomplish or do things that we WANT to do, but just can’t at the moment for whatever reason, it can really bring us down. It creates envy and feelings of inadequacy.
Stop this! People are doing these things because their journey in life brought them there. Maybe you’re just not there yet. But if you’re working toward a goal, and take action EVERY DAY, guess what? You will get there.
Don’t neglect yourself! It’s okay to put yourself first. It’s hard to make others happy if you’re not happy. Practice these ways to show yourself some love and make living your life a lot more enjoyable!
